Hedonically-adjusted words for the wealthy…

showing real inflation using the methodology from 1982 where they actually measured a consistent basket of goods and today where they cut out things we never use like food and gas and then massage the data lower with techniques like hedonic adjustments and Market averaging.

Blue is real inflation today.

Red is “Official Government CPI” which is used to make small interest payments on debt, reduce Social Security payments to beneficiaries, and otherwise screw the world.

If you are under performing Real Inflation, you are going backwards with your purchasing power.
